Amazingly intense gunplay from start to finish; environments react to every bullet you fire; excellent visuals and sound; cool explosions.

BLACK does deliver some of the most intense action the Xbox has to offer, and if you just want to experience what it would be like firing off countless rounds of ammo in a number of environments, this is the game for you.

Criterion not only makes the visual experience unlike anything you've encountered, but also makes the core combat a determinedly brutal affair that'll test the best in ways that even FPS veterans will be forced to admire.

At its core, the game is one sharp-handling console shooter with a back-to-basics approach to its mechanics that keeps things simple and accessible.

BLACK turns the FPS volume way past ten, creating an experience that is worth a hard look, regular Xbox player or not.

For a game with such a serious storyline, BLACK sure is a lot of fun to play.

Having followed Black's progress since Criterion first invited us to see its tech demo over a year ago it's been blindingly obvious that the Guildford-based developer had something very special in mind.
