CRITERION GAMES

As part of London Games Festival, EA took over Trafalgar Square Oct 24-26 for Be the One, a completely free, two-day carnival of exclusive hands-on gaming action, top celebs and live music - right in the heart of London.

A few of our Paradise guys including Charnjit Bansi and Chris Cummings were there - here's what they had to say:

No tent is complete without a car smashed through it.

So what was the event about and how was Burnout involved?

CC: It was an event to show off lots of EA games on the big screen being played by celebrities and in pods in some tents. There were 2 huge big screens in Traflagar Square, and lots of TV presenters.

CB: Burnout Paradise had its own section featuring a video to raise awareness of the game. It was one of the first adverts you could see when approaching Trafalgar Square from the Charing Cross Underground Station, right outside The National Gallery.

Any interesting stories or highlights from the day?

CB: After asking the organizers nicely, we got on stage when Burnout Paradise was being shown off to a huge crowd on two huge screens. Danny Williams was there playing the game and attempting a Road Rule on 1st Street which ended him jumping over the broken bridge heading in to Downtown and then crashing.

CC: And then Charnjit convinced the organizers to interview us on stage which was extremely scary. I ended up 'commenting' on the quality of a huge heavyweight boxers' driving, and Andre beautifully told 100s of people that Burnout was pure blood sweat and tears!

And what were people's reactions to the game?

CB: Great cheering when the car cleared the bridge and the cameras kicked in showing off the detail in all its glory. Passers-by were mildly shocked to see a completely f*cked up Burnout car sticking through the tent as well.

CC: After we came off stage the presenter came back to congratulate us on a great game and say how much he loved Burnout, and as we were walking away a guy from the crowd ran over to shake our hands! We clearly have a lot of fans.
