Man, games development can be a frustrating business. You slave for months to make a boundary-breaking, state-of-the-art, number one racing game and when it comes out all you get from some people is "where's the 'restart race' option?" It can just drive you FREAKING INSAAAANE!!
So stress management is something that we take very seriously at Criterion Games and the team who have been investing in research for some time now are our own audio guys, led by chart-topper Steve Root.
These pictures were taken from a group therapy session held in a local junkyard, where Steve and his boys bunged the owners a few notes so they could come in with goggles and sledgehammers and take out all of their frustrations in that Graveyard of Cars.
Windshields were shattered. Headlights were busted. Panels were bent. Souls were cleansed.
And guess what? Because these guys never travel anywhere without a DAT recorder and a metre-long woolly microphone, this orgy of destruction was captured in full and turned into the metal-mashing sound effects you hear when you crash your car in Burnout Paradise.
That's what you might call 'a twofer'!
