We hope you're enjoying playing Burnout Paradise online as much as we are!
We built Burnout Paradise to push back the frontiers of console gaming online, making it easier than ever to play online.
But, as all veteran gamers know, the nature of the internet can sometimes mean you hit a connection hitch that affects your online game.
Bummer.
In the unlikely event that you do come across a problem, here's the checklist to run through before you seek further help.
1. Obvious one first. Is your internet connection working properly or could it have been interrupted?
- Are the lights on your router or your modem showing the connection as working?
- Can you connect to the internet using your computer or another console?
2. Check your console's network settings are correct and make sure you are signed in to Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network.
- If you have a PlayStation 3, go to the Settings menu on the Cross Media Bar, then down to the Network settings to see that your console is correctly configured. If the settings are correct, go right on the Cross Media Bar to the Network menu there and check that you are signed in to the PlayStation Network.
- If you have an Xbox 360, turn it on and go to the System blade, then select Network Settings. When you have checked that your Xbox is correctly configured, go back to the Xbox Live blade and select the Connect To Xbox Live button to sign in.
3. Check that your console gaming service is working.
- If you can't connect when you try to sign in, there may be a temporary problem with your gaming service. This would be very unusual though.
- Depending on the messages your console gives you when you try to connect, you should be able to tell if this is the case.
- If you use Xbox Live, look for the helpful Xbox Live Status indicator in the top-left of the page at
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/.
4. Check the Burnout Paradise server status.
- Every Tuesday morning between 9:30 and 10:30 GMT we take the Burnout Paradise servers offline for a brief maintenance check. During that time you will not be able to connect.
- We will be opening a community section of the website shortly which will inform our players of any unscheduled server maintenance outside of that time.
- So far, we've had very few noticeable server-related issues, and we plan to make sure that's how it stays!
5. Check the EA support section.
http://support.ea.com.
- Here you'll find details of how to adjust the settings on the modem or router you use to connect to the internet.
- Use the drop down menus to select your platform and select Burnout Paradise, and, if you have it, you may find it handy to have your modem or router manual handy.
6. We're ready to believe you.
- If none of the above gets you playing again you may have come across something that needs the specialist help of the Burnout online team.
- To report an online problem like this, use the community section technical support at
http://www.burnout.ea.com. - Post your question here with as much information as you can, including your gamertag or online ID, connection type, where, when and what the problem was and as much supporting info as you can (such as game type, number of players etc). Also, let us know if it's an intermittent or persistent problem.
- If you can give us all of that, the crack online team will respond to your problem as quickly as possible, and have you back on the streets of Paradise in no time.
We'll see you online!
