Hi, guys.
First, I want you to know that I'm not a racing fan. Yet, I have collected the Burnout series. Why? Because I'm crazy for the traffic attacks, crashes, and general mayhem that's the signature style of the games. The close-to-perfect game was Revenge. It's been going downhill since. Why? Because you've been taking out all the things that make it special. There's a million and four race games out there. There's only one series with the ability to create total chaos with your car.
In my humble opinion, the only two things that would have made Revenge perfect are the ability to smash more of the background objects (rather than crash and burn against them) and free riding. I hear Paradise will do the latter. But Crash is gone and so is Traffic Attack. Even Crashbreakers are gone. Come on, guys! I can live without Crash mode, though it's very cool. But crashing the regular traffic to bits, into your opponents, gaining boost through sheer wanton destruction.... THIS is what makes Burnout different from all the rest. So, please. I beg you. Bring back the ability to drive like a maniac and destroy every other car on the road. Thank you.

Dear S. White,
We are confident you will enjoy Burnout Paradise.

MISSING MANUAL
I am having trouble getting a copy of the play book for Black. I live in the Toronto, Canada area. Can you help?
Michael
Dear Michael (and all the others who've written in with a similar request),
We plan to put .pdf files of all of our game manuals up onto the site shortly, so watch this space.

ITCHY TRIGGER FINGER
In response to your question, yes, I can still taste it. And I'm ready to begin.
I have played BLACK to every extreme I can think of. I've even found the health pack under the rubble in Nazran town on Black ops mode, someone forget to delete it?
Anyhow, BLACK is undoubtedly the greatest fps I have ever played, on console or PC. I thought you guys were on the ball with the Burnout series but BLACK is so fornicating awesome it's hard to believe I'm not playing it thru a $4k PC.
Please for the love of god give us BLACK 2! I can't take the itching trigger finger much longer! If it was released tomorrow, I'd have bought it yesterday. Also, the loading screen with the all airborne 7.62x39 brass would make a kickass screensaver. Thank you for your time and the mindblowing firefights I have partaken in.
Tbiggs
Dear Tbiggs,
How is life at the Academy? You're right, we're probably never getting off this rock!
Enough Lucasfilm references! Glad you like the game. Maybe one day we'll make another one. But then again, maybe we won't.

BURNOUT ON THE Wii
A million emails asking for it can't be wrong!

WANTING MORE
Hi
I would like to know if Criterion Games intends to develop the game BLACK further. A sequel, a similar shoot game or something.
Thanks
Miguel
Dear Miguel,
The honest answer at this time is maybe, but maybe not. We're all hard at work on Burnout Paradise right now, so don't believe the guff that is up on Wikipedia right now.

AND MORE
Hello:
I would like to say that BLACK is my favorite XBOX game. I am certainly not the only one that feels this way. I anxiously await the sequel. When will an XBOX 360 followup be released?
I do have one suggestion. It would be nice to be able to have an opportunity to save progress. Several times I had to leave the console on for 3 days to complete a level.
Thanks,
Tony
Dear Tony,
I think we answered your question up above.

CRASH QUERY
I've got a question about the new Burnout.
Is there going to be a crash mode? That is one of the reasons I've bought almost all the Burnouts except Dominator cause I got bored of only doing races. I like crash challenges cause it changes the atmosphere of the game from time to time, you just go out and smash as much as you can. Now that's fun!!!
Well that's it for me.
Thanks for reading and hope you anwser.
Bruce Leslie
Dear Bruce,
Yep there will be a 'crash mode' in Paradise. But it won't be like what is used to be.
It's all new.

INQUIRING MINDS
I just asked myself, how I could complete BLACK 100%?

Dear Danny,
I just asked myself, how could I answer this email?

LOOKING FOR CLOSURE
I've completed this game in every mode: Easy, Normal, Hard and Black Ops, my question is, how do I finish to get 100%?! Currently, I am at 85% finished. I keep playing the game but it won't advance past 85%?!
Frustrating...please help me with hints/walk throughs.
Lowdetection
Dear Mr. Detection,
To complete the game 100% you have to collect every single....ah, let's not spoil it for Danny from Switzerland eh?

REAL LIFE LOCATIONS?
Hi
Are the Burnout (Takedown/Revenge) tracks based on places in real life?
Thank you
Trevor
Dear Trevor,
Yes, the tracks in ALL of the Burnout games are based on real places. We've already written about Making the Tracks for Revenge on this site in fact.
On the top of our heads the Takedown courses were based on Vienna, Monte Carlo, Koh Sahmui, Bangkok, Hong Kong, San Diego, Chicago and a few others.

DISSAPOINTED WITH DOMINATOR
Having waited with anticipation for Dominator to arrive on the shelves, I recently bought this game and was very disappointed to see that "Crash" is not included. Is there a particular reason for it being left out?
Steph
Dear Steph,
We left Crash out of the Dominator project as the team who made that game wanted to create a more Burnout 2 style game. The Burnout Team acted as advisers on that game, but were not the main development team.

PC PLEA
Dear Criterion Games,
I would like EA and Criterion Games to consider making a PC version of Burnout Paradise. Burnout Paradise looks like an amazing game. I saw Craig Sullivan demonstrate the game on G4's coverage of E3 2007 last Friday.
There are many next-gen games coming out for the PC including Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3, Timeshift, Lost Planet, and Crysis. Also, DiRT and Test Drive Unlimited look fantastic and work very well on the PC. So why no Burnout Paradise for the PC?
I believe that bypassing the PC gaming market is unwarranted. The CPU/GPU technology of PCs is always improving. In the near future PC gaming will surpass Xbox 360 technology. ATI's new R600 GPU will be more powerful than the Xbox 360's GPU. In addition, PC technology is also much more reliable than Xbox 360 technology considering the reported 30% failure rate of the Xbox 360. You want people to actually be able to play your game, right?
LOL!
PC gamers have invested a lot of money in their systems. I hope EA and Criterion Games decide not to leave PC gamers in the dust while completing work on Burnout Paradise.
Also, if you do decide to make a PC version could you include the 'Games For Windows Live' feature.
Thank you for your consideration.
Richard Braxton
Dear Richard,
Thanks for a well written and sensible email. Maybe we will do it one day in the future. It's not something we rule out entirely.

TOO TOUGH?
I've been a huge fan of the Burnout series for years now and I wanted to thank you for all the hard work that you have put into your games. I cant wait to see how Burnout Paradise turns out on the PS3. My only complaint about the games is that they are nearly impossible to finishthe difficulty is set too high. I play the games to have fun and unlock everything, I have yet to ever finish any of the Burnout titles. In the next game I'd love to see a difficulty system that adjusts to the player, I've seen other games with that feature and they seem to work rather well.
Anyways, thanks for the games!
Ian
Dear Ian,
Difficulty is always a good topic to discuss. You'd probably be surprised to learn that the majority of feedback we receive suggests that our games are FAR TOO EASY. The new game is much more free and open than any other videogame out there so hopefully you will be able to enjoy it at your own pace rather than a pace we have controlled for you.

SECOND CHANCE
I really enjoyed Black for the original XBOX. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my machine has locked up and I will be purchasing the XBOX 360. Any chances a new BLACK game is headed for the 360 ??
Steve
Dear Steve,
Thanks for mailingyou'll be pleased to learn that Black is fully backwards compatible for your new Xbox 360 so you can enjoy it all over again.
