Criterion Open Day T’s&C’s
1. General
The opening time and date of the competition is Friday 8th March 2013 at 17:00 GMT, and the closing date and time for receipt of entries is Friday 22nd March at 23:59 GMT. Entries submitted after this time will not be considered.
2. Restrictions
This prize draw is open to UK residents aged sixteen (16) and over who are currently final year A-level or first year University students only. Employees (and members of their immediate family) of “Electronic Arts” (“EA”) (“Promoter”), their agents and anyone connected to this competition are not eligible to enter.
3. Rules to participate
No purchase of any goods or services is necessary to be eligible for entry into this competition.
To be eligible to win entrants must visit www.CriterionGames.com and complete the registration form. Entrants will be required to submit a portfolio of work in zip file format containing a CV and examples of their work up to 20 MB in size.
Thirty (30) entries will be selected to receive an invite to attend Electronic Arts’ office at Onslow House, Onslow Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4TN (the “Guildford Office”) to participate in an all day event (the “Open Day”) hosted by EA’s Criterion Games (“Criterion”) studio on Thursday 11th April 2013. Entrants should ensure that they will be available to attend on this date before submitting their entry.
The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
4. Prize(s)
Criterion Games Open Day
Thirty (30) finalists will be asked to attend the Open Day at Criterion’s studio where they will receive guidance on a career in the Video Games industry, and take part in a game proto-type competition (the “Project”).
Based on their performance in the Project, five (5) people will be selected from the Open Day attendees to be offered a week-long work experience placement (the “Work Experience”) with the Criterion Studio and experience working at the studio first hand.
In order to be eligible to attend the Open Day, the winners will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement upon arrival at the Guildford Office
Criterion Work Experience
In order to be eligible for the Work Experience the five (5) winners will be required to sign a Work Experience agreement and a further non-disclosure agreement.
The Work Experience will take place for one (1) week in the month of July 2013. Exact timing of the Work Experience is to be confirmed. Entrants should ensure that they are available at this time as no alternative dates will be offered.
There are no alternatives to these prizes. They are as stated and are non-transferable. If due to circumstances beyond the control of EA, EA is unable to provide the stated prizes, EA reserves the right to award substitute prizes of equal value. All prizes are subject to the terms and conditions of the supplier.
5. Results
The winners will be contacted by email on or about Friday 29th March 2013.
If a winner of the prize cannot be traced after reasonable efforts have been made by EA, EA will be entitled to select alternative winner from among the entrants.
A full list of who won will be available for four (4) weeks following the day of the selection of winners. This list can be obtained by writing to Criterion Open Day, Electronic Arts, Onslow House, Onslow Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4TN
If Promoter request proof of age or proof that the entrant is currently an A-Level or first year University, and if satisfactory proof is not received, the Promoter reserves the rights to choose another winner.
6. General Conditions
Any entry, which does not comply with the rules, may be deemed invalid at the sole discretion of EA. EA is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, misdirected entries, lost or unavailable network connections, failed, incorrect, garbled, delayed electronic or other communications or other technical problems related to mobile entries. Proof of sending will not be deemed to be proof of delivery.
By submitting your material to EA, you represent and warrant that your submission (a) is your own and original creation and does not violate or infringe the rights of any third party, including without limitation, copyrights, trademarks or trade dress, patents, or rights of publicity/privacy; (b) is not defamatory, obscene, offensive or indecent; and (c) and has not been previously published or submitted to other parties or websites. By submitting your material to EA, you also acknowledge that your material is not confidential or proprietary. Our review of your material does not imply that we will use, develop or publish your material. Nor does our review of your material prevent us from using, developing, publishing or marketing ideas or products that may be similar to your material.
Entrants agree that they may be required to take part in publicity without further consent or payment. Such publicity may include their names and/or likeness.
7. Data protection
In order to participate in the competition participants must provide certain information on themselves. This personal information is collected and processed only for the purposes of organising, running and monitoring the campaign, as well as for carrying out publicity activities on it. The organising entity shall be considered the data controller for the database containing this personal information.
By entering this competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by any other requirements set out in the promotional material, which may be amended or varied at any time by the Promoter.
The Promoter of this prize draw is EA Swiss Sàrl, Place du Molard 8, Geneva 1204,Switzerland.
This prize draw is governed by and is in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
