Compete against up to 8 players at breakneck speeds

Online Racing

If you want to test your skills at driving through the streets of Paradise City at breakneck speeds then this is the place for you. Enter into a race with up to 8 players all trying to reach the finish line in the fastest time.

The host gets to choose the routes and can limit the vehicles available for a race by selecting a Boost Level (1 to 10); this refers to the top speed of the vehicle with 10 being the fastest.

Choose a vehicle that you think will be the best for the route; maybe it is the fastest in a straight line, can earn boost quickly from jumps, or can easily smash through the traffic and opposition. I sometimes choose a car that I know is not the best just because it looks good and I like the extra challenge.

At the start of a race players are arranged in order of skill with the lowest rated at the front and the highest rated at the back. Hey if you’re the best then you need to prove it every race!

Unranked

For those who like to customise the routes, race several rounds in a GP style, or race without the fear of hitting traffic then you should try some Unranked Racing.

The host can customise the route by choosing a start point, finish point, and up to 15 checkpoints. Keep it straight and simple or create a complex endurance race, the choice is yours.

Increase the number of rounds (up to 5) then race them all back to back earning points based on your finishing position. Be the player with the most points at the end of the last race to be crowned the winner.

Prefer to race without traffic then turn it off for a race where perfect racing lines and top speed will always triumph.

Ranked

This is where the serious competition starts. Although some players can take their Ranked Racing very seriously, don’t forget that winning should never get in the way of enjoying yourself and having fun.

There are forty unique and official Paradise Drives to race on; each one designed to test your knowledge of the roads and shortcuts as well as your ability to weave in and out of traffic.

Participating in a Ranked Race will result in your skills being rated (points) and the chance to compare your ability against other racers (rank).

Every player starts with a skill rating of 0 points. The only way to gain points is to finish ahead of other players. As the points are a measure of skill it is also possible for players to lose points by finishing behind other players.

The amount of points gained or lost depends on the relative skill of you and your opponent.

Gaining Points;
You will gain between 0 and 100 points for finishing ahead of another player

  • Finishing ahead of a player with the same skill rating will gain you 50 points.
  • Finishing ahead of a player with a higher skill rating will gain you more points (up to 100).
  • Finishing ahead of a player with a lower skill rating will gain you fewer points (down to 0).
Losing Points; You will lose between 0 and 100 points for finishing behind another player
  • Finishing behind a player with the same skill rating will lose you 50 points.
  • Finishing behind a player with a higher skill rating will lose you fewer points (down to 0).
  • Finishing behind a player with a lower skill rating will lose you more points (up to 100).
  • Players who have a skill rating below 1,120 points will not lose the full amount of points (in fact if you have a skill rating of below 50 points you never lose points!).
  • Disconnecting from a race is treated the same as finishing last in a race and will result in you losing points to every player that finishes the race!
